Chestnut Shelter Wedding Folk Art Painting

One of my blog readers, Laura, commissioned me to do this little painting. She and her husband were married in this building, Chestnut Shelter. When she sent me the photos, I couldn't believe the huge icicyles hanging from the roof. What a romantic wedding this must have been! Candles glowed in the windows, little heart wreaths on the door, and they even stood outside in the snow to have their picture taken. Believe it or not she didn't even look cold in the pictures. They even had a bagpiper at the wedding! Cute couple, don't you think!
This was painted on a tiny 5" x 7" canvas. Laura is giving the to her husband for Valentine's Day. What a lovely idea! Now I've got to come up with something in the next couple of weeks that says "romance". Send me your romantic ideas for Valentine's Day by leaving me a comment.

  1. Hi Catherine,

I will have to get back to you with some Valentine ideas, but I LOVE this one! What a beautiful gift. My husband once commissioned a painting done in my likeness, of an angel, for our anniversary. When I walked into the gallery, I was immediately drawn to the painting. I had no idea it was for me, until the artist came up and started talking to us about the sweet man who was having it painted as a surprise for his wife. When he told me that I was the wife, I was speechless! I still feel humbled when I look at that painting. I am sure that the man who receives this lovely painting will feel that way, too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your sweet message.

    Hugs,
    Debbie

  4. What a sweet romantic Valentine gift! That painting is adorable Catherine!

I am probably the least romantic person in the world, so I can't help with any ideas, but I am going to check back here and see if I can borrow someone elses!

  5. Catherine, this is just beautiful. I love that gallery canvas, don't you?? Love the way the painting wraps around. I think it is also very special that you put the two of them out front, very sweet and romantic. Beautiful work.
