I am dreaming of a white christmas!
Christmas decorations in my kitchen...I love my red skates that I use as a bookend for my cook books. I got it a couple of years ago at the "World's Longest Yard Sale" in Kentucky. Can't wait to go there again!

Snowman Sound is the final painting for this year. I'm taking a much needed break from painting until after the first of the year, but will be back ready to paint more wintery visions.
Snowman Sound is a beautiful magical place. For years children have been telling tales of jolly snowmen who laugh and play. They always seem to have a twinkle in their eyes and a smile on their face, as if there could be some truth to this mystery.

Love the red skates... I had a pair of silver ones as a child.. crazy things would never stay on no matter how much I tightened them with the key. I think I need a pair of those for my kitchen too.

ReplyDeleteYou have created wonderment again, Dear Catherine! Your illustrations take me on such whimsy travels ... how I would love to visit the "Sound".
ReplyDeleteBlessings ~
Catherine,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you stopped by! You have done it again, another wonderful painting! Santa has been outbid so far so maybe after your break we could talk about me just placing an order for one?
Your house is stunning! I love every peek you give us and I am stealing from you today! Yes ma'am, those tags on your jars, I will be making some for myself! My family complains about the fact that all mine have no labels. A neighbor came by while I was away and wanted to borrow some flour, yes, this quaint custom still happens where I live, and my husband had to call and ask which flour was what. I have wheat, all purpose, and self rising but they are not labeled and the flour looks mysteriously like powdered sugar which dose not make ones cookies come out right! Thanks for sharing a great idea, I hope you do not mind if I borrow it.
Have a wonderful day!
Hi Catherine, a beautiful painting, as always!! I noticed that gorgeous clock in one of your photos, I know you must have painted that...WOW, is all I can say.
ReplyDeleteI am the same as you, I need to take painting breaks at times, I'm sure all artists do, kind of refuels the creative juices. Happy holidays to everyone at your house.

I love the skate bookends, too. There is nothing like getting to lick the beaters and mixing bowl. My husband and I take turns with that goodie.
ReplyDeleteI'm still debating on which prints I want to purchase. I haven't forgotten but I like so many of them, it's difficult choosing.
That yard sale sounds fabulous...heaven! Have a lovely break over christmas, I know how you feel...I'm taking a break from the sewing machine,

Hi! I found you through your comment on Honey Girl Studio. I just wanted to say that I LOVE your paintings, they are great! I've enjoyed what I've read of your blog so far, I'll be back with my coffee in the morning to check some more out!
ReplyDeleteYour cookie elves are cracking me up! I hope my kids never grow up :)
ReplyDeleteCatherine,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I am just full of strange secrets. I did not know I could paint either until a friend told me I could. She bought me a set of paints, brushes, and a couple of books and I taught myself. I used to paint all the time but have not picked up a brush in a few years. I am truly rusty as all get out and most of my paints were dried up but I managed a few simple strokes. I realize I need to get out my practice sheets and reacquaint myself with some of the brush strokes. I had a time of it with the stroke work! I still prefer yours to mine and I will get in touch after the holiday to order something. Have a great day!
