I realize this is not a cowl in the photo below, but guess what? I finally finished this afghan that I made for our queen size bed. It took months and months to make this, but I'm so glad that I stuck with it.
My husband makes the bed each morning (yes I know how lucky I am) and was shocked at the weight of it. It will feel good this winter though when the temperatures drop to freezing and the wind is howling outside.
I had several balls of these colors left over and decided to make a cowl. If you've never worn one of these, you need to get you one. Besides keeping me cozy and warm it hides my lovely aging neck. Now if I could just find a picture of a hip hairstyle for an aging gray haired lady, I'd really be happy. No kidding, if you have an image of a hairstyle you think I'd like, send me the image link.
Does this look like a granny afghan wrapped around my neck?
This cowl is made using several different granny squares and a variety of stitches and crochets up very quickly.
Vee, here are the instructions for that crocheted pillow
I'm in desperate need of a haircut, so send me those ideas ladies!
Oh thanks for the link...that does make the cutest pillow ever. Say, what about her haircut? It's cute and perky and looks as if it would look good on you.
ReplyDeleteI like a cowl neck. I'm hiding mine, too, and old necks like being warm. :)
I have no suggestions for your hair, I'm pretty much in the same boat/salon as you. My hairdresser disappeared, and I had to find someone new, it is awful. But I said, just do what you want, not sure I like it, but too late, I'll need to let it grow a bit. I'm sure you'll be very warm this winter. Love your cowl, and no it doesn't look like a afghan wrapped around your neck.
ReplyDeleteI love the cowl, thanks for the link to the pattern of it.
ReplyDeleteSince long I have been fond of your paintings, but you can also crochet like crazy.
You are a very creative, amazing women and I love your hair!!
Cathie, you have been one busy lady!! Love the afghan and cowl you made.
ReplyDeleteWOW Cathie that afghan is amazing! Lots of love went into that pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pattern for the pillow...I may attempt to try that!
Lately I have been crocheting head bands!
I love Jamie Lee Curtis hair style {it may be too short but I think its great for us "mature" gals}
Have you seen her on the activia commercials?
Hugs, Dolly
Catherine! I found your blog through your Etsy store and I just love it! So, several things: 1) The afghan is so pretty! 2) The pillows are also lovely. Did you make them as well, or did you just plan the afghan to match perfectly? 3) You look fabulous with the cowl.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you shared!
Hi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteI'm you're newest follower.
I just adore that afghan. I brought one like it to college. And, loaned it out. And, well, I'm hoping it's keeping someone warm somewhere - cause I never saw it again - lol.
I'm in the market for a cute cute, too. If you happen to know of one for a 43 year old!
All the best,
