Winter Clean Up

Instead of painting I've been busy cleaning up my yard and trying to clear the mess from all the oak trees.  Weeding is a top priority right now too.  I love getting outside and breathing in the fresh air even if I do have severe allergies.  It really clears my mind and restores me.  Oh how I wish I could drag my paints and brushes outside and not worry about particles landing on my canvas.  Hey Rick,  I need a screened in porch.

This is the second year for my clematis and it has performed extremely well.

The flowers are huge!

I was able to capture this butterfly in my lilacs, although he was not cooperating when I asked him to spread his wings.

I'll be planting these soon.

My poor weeping cherry tree didn't make it through the dry winter, but my columbine survived as the dogs trampled over it all winter.  Did your trees and flowers survive the weather?

  1. Such a gorgeous clematis!! Catherine, your yard looks like a haven of restfulness... though it always takes WORK to create such a beautiful space! Ha! We are about to start tackling our landscaping... it is as bad as the inside of the house was! LOTS of work ahead... I'll be wishing I were in your backyard instead. ;) blessings ~ tanna

  3. The clematis is such a beautiful and showy flower. We had a pepper plant that lasted all winter and has already had one ripe pepper...we were surprised! Enjoy your week sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

  4. The outdoors have been calling me too. Sadly it's raining today, although we need it.

Your yard is really pretty, Catherine. I'm sorry about your weeping cherry tree though. I think everything here survived pretty well. I can't wait to get out there and plant more.

    I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day :)

  5. Hi Catherine, I so envy your clematis. We have a chain link fence around a small part of our back yard that was used as a dog run by the former homeowners. I've wanted some sort of climbing plant there so planted three clematis last year but they never thrived. Yours are stunning. Hugs,

  6. All that rain! So many of you are in the same boat so to speak. How frustrating, but the worst is the unpredictable, dangerous weather systems. You must be so eager to get into the yard again...you have such a beautiful yard. The clematis is gorgeous! I have tried to grow it twice, but it never does well here. Despite the vile winter, everything except an azalea pulled through.
